AWS

Welcome to the ART WORKSHOP

The purpose of AWS is to foster a spirit of cooperation, exchange of ideas and mutual helpfulness among members; to provide an atmosphere in which individual members can further develop their art, and provide stimulating programs such as work sessions, instruction, demonstrations, critiques, art exhibits and special events. AWS hosts the members only Apple Blossom Art Show every April in Sebastopol.

AWS meets the third Thursday of the month, Noon to 3 PM, in the dining room of the Sebastopol Veterans Memorial Hall, S. 282 High Street, Sebastopol, CA. We begin with a light lunch, and a brief general meeting, after which there is a 90 minute program, which can be either demonstrations in various media, or art critiques, or workshops. Lunch and programs are free for members. Visitors pay $5, which will be applied to their annual membership dues of $35 if the visitor becomes a member. We always welcome visitors.

In recent years, AWS has sponsored intensive workshops of up to three days. Among presenters are well-known artists Elin Pendleton, Gil Dellinger, Eleanor Dickinson, and Armand Cabrera. Member artists have also given workshops.

FOR 2009, an off-site workshop of three days each was scheduled.   Elin Pendleton returned  with her color system  workshop on August 17 through 19. The cost for the workshop was $250. Non AWS members are welcome at our workshops. We hope you will  enjoy our upcoming workshops and consider becoming a member. For details on workshops, contact Vise President, Linda Raye Sims.

How to join AWS:

We ask prospective members to attend two meetings to decide if they are willing to participate and want to join us. Those interested in joining should contact the Membership Chair during their first visit to the club.

We are an active participation club. Each member is expected to attend meetings and to serve on committees, to bring original works of art to share with the other members and to work on our annual art show.
